Meet the Hussain’s; An Oldham Family
“Meet the Hussain’s” was premiered at Oldham Youth Forum’s Family Fun Day over the Jubilee weekend.
“Meet the Hussain’s: An Oldham Family“, was created by Young Participants in the Coldhurst, Westwood and Chadderton areas of Oldham to help raise awareness of the issues their community is experiencing. The project was a great success with all the young people involved rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in.
The young people discussed, debated, planned, wrote, rehearsed, operated and performed the short film under supervision of 2Tour Theatre. The film was produced with Greek Bloke Productions who did a fantastic job in making “Meet the Hussain’s”, a very professional looking short film. Below is a short piece of film about the project produced by Andonis Anthony; Greek Bloke Productions.
“Meet the Hussain’s; An Oldham Family” will be available in the near future, but for any further information about the project or the work that 2Tour Theatre does, please dont hesitate to email, phone or Tweet.
We are please to announce that our community project with Oldham Youth Forum was a massive success. After a busy but rewarding week filming with Greek Bloke Production the young people left with a full sense of ownership and very importantly felt proud of being part of positive community project.
While working with 2Tour Theatre, they had a whirl wind experience of being introduced to drama, acting for camera and getting to know each other. What was evident throughout the process is that regardless to the issues that the young may face, they knew they wanted to spread a message about some of the problems that their community face; sometimes their own families and friends. You can see below Andonis Anthony from Greek Bloke Productions taking the participants through the filming process; the equipment, what he’s looking for, angles and capturing sound.
Oldham Youth Forum are going to be screening the finished film on Monday 4th June 2012 at the Millennium Centre, Featherstall Road, Chadderton. If you want to join the community fun day please get in touch with the forum group direct here Oldham Youth Forum.

PAUL & ABI
2Tour Theatre have recently started a new partnership with Oldham Youth Forum based in Coldhurst, Oldham. We are teaming up to create a small film with the young people of the community that looks to create discussion around some of the core issues in their community.
But before I go on, I’ll let Oldham Youth Forum tell you who they are;
“Oldham Youth Forum is based at the heart of the Coldhurst, Westwood & Chadderton communities in Oldham. Established in May 2010, we have set the aim of helping young people by raising awareness of the issues and concerns young people face and by listening to them, we hope to support and guide them to a more secure and prospective future for both them & Oldham.”
We have spent several weeks in discussion, debate and playing some drama games to get to our week of filming. The project has seen the young people, move from ideas to story and finally to writing the script. They’ve worked through improvisation and creative script writing tasks to create the final piece for filming with Andonis Anthony of Greek Bloke Productions.
The title is “Meet the Hussains; An Oldham Family” ; and it focuses on a family in Oldham who have their fair share of issues. Yasmin is dating the wrong guy behind her parents back and Sarwat is desperate for her dad to allow her to work to gain her apprenticeship. We also have the younger brother Kashem who want to earn money for the family but falls down the wrong path and meets some ugly people who deal in drugs. All the while the eldest brother Anhar is trying very hard to find a job but is struggling, and finds himself in a mountain of debt before he’s even got a job. The whole piece is framed with Mum, Dad, Friends, Family and a couple of shady characters we meet along the way.
The main title to the project is “Your Voice”; giving the young people in the community a chance to be heard, listened to and then the opportunity to be creative and express their views in the film. Filming has begun and we are all very excited about the final product, which will be screened in Oldham to an audience of friends, family, Councillors and Faith Leaders.
2Tour Theatre are very please to be Facilitating and Directing this piece of performance, working with such a passionate and young person focused organisation such as Oldham Youth Forum. Its great to be in the centre of an Oldham community, listening to what really happens on the street, what really goes on in homes and tackling the real pressures that young people are facing in their day to day lives.
More information to come on this project and pictures from our young people on set. If you would like any more information on “Your Voice” and 2Tour Theatre, please don’t hesitate to contact via email, phone and social media.
